In order to join a town you first have to get invited to one or the town must have their town open to joining. You might have already received invitations to join a town. If not, ask the chat if there are any towns you can join. When you get invited to a town type "/accept >townname<", replace ">townname<" with the name of the town the invite came from. If everything went well you should now be in a town, to leave your town do "/t leave".
To make a town first you must leave your current town if you are in one by typing "/t leave" also make sure you have the 100 dollars required to make the town. Next, find a suitable location to start your town. To find a location you may look on the map and teleport to a town closest to it or let the game teleport you to a random location by running "/rtp". Once you have found a good spot for your town run the command "/t new >townname<", replace ">townname<" with what you would like your town to be called. If you have done everything correctly you should have founded your first town. To keep your town alive the town must have enough money inside it to pay the daily upkeep of two dollars. "Two bucks a day keeps the ruined town at bay." (Buckaroon2824). To deposit gold into the town do "/t deposit >amount<"and replace ">amount<" with the amount of money you would like to deposit into your town. E.g "/t deposit 20". To expand the size of your town you must claim more land. Hold "f3" and hit "g" to show chunks. Head over to any neighboring chunks of your town and do "/t claim". Make sure your town has enough money. The amount of land you can claim is limited to the population of your town. To increase your population you must invite players to your town. Run the command "/t add >playername<" and replace ">playername<" with the player you would like to invite. If you are having trouble finding players you can ask a friend to join your town. Another way is by contacting new players when they join the server by messaging them.
There are several other things that are important to know when running your town, ranking players, making plots, joining nations, and cultures. There are 4 ranks each with different permissions: comayor, assistant, helper, and sheriff. Comayor has all the same permissions as the mayor other then a few commands. assistant is the same except they cannot do /t unclaim and /t withdraw. Helper can only manage plots, invite players, and build. Sheriff can jail players. To rank a player do "/t rank add {player} {rank}" ex. "/t rank add mint_101 comayor". Plots are a way to give players land to build on inside your town. There are 9 different types of plots and I am too lazy to list each one and its uses. For more information on plot types click on the dot to visit the official towny wiki. To set a plot just do "/plot set {plottype} {cost}" replace "{plottype}" with the plot type and replace "{cost}" with the amount of money to claim the plot. Unless players are claiming these plots you don't need the cost variable. Once you have created the plot if it is claimable players can do "/plot claim" and claim the plot if they have the required funds. Joining a nation gives your town a variety of benefits including gaining more claim chunks and closer connections with neighboring towns. To join a nation you must be invited to one so ask around. It's recommended to join a nation at least within your region. Once you have been invited to a nation do "/t invite accept {nationname}" and replace "{nationname}" with the name of the nation the invite came from. If everything worked correctly you should now be apart of a nation. Cultures don't give your town any advantages but they do give your town a strong sense of identity. You can join or create a culture with "/c set {culturename}". Players in your town can now use "/cc {message}" to chat with other players within the same culture.
To make a nation you must be the mayor of a town and have 1000 dollars in your player balance. do "/n new {name}" and replace "{name}" with what you'd like your nation to be called. Nations have an upkeep of 20 dollars a day. Make sure to deposit money into your town with "/n deposit >amount<". To invite towns to your nation just run the command "/n invite {townname}" and replace "{townname}" with the name of the town you'd like to invite. In "Managing your Town" we discussed how towns accept this invite. As a nation you can ally with other nations with "/n ally add {nationname}" players in nations allied to your nation cannot attack players in your nation and vice versa. You may also set certain nations as your enemy by doing "/n enemy add {nationname}".
